• 3-5 days high fever (39-40°C) → defervescence → maculopapular trunk rash
• #1 cause of febrile seizures this age

• HHV-6 = 6th disease (roseola)
• Parvovirus B19 = 5th disease (slapped cheek)

• Reactivation common
• HHV-6 limbic encephalitis — amnesia, seizures, SIADH
• MRI: medial temporal T2 hyperintensity
• Treatment: foscarnet or ganciclovir

• Chromosomally integrated → persistent high blood PCR
• Not active infection — don’t auto-treat
• Tissue / CSF PCR for active disease
